Our Work

Rooted in Paul’s legacy and driven by our mission to affirm the dignity of people living with mental illness, this page highlights the ways we show up through policy advocacy, community storytelling, and healing-centered events.

Every initiative we lead shares a common goal: to close the gap—and create a world where care, connection, and justice are not the exception, but the norm.

STorytelling

Guts and Gratitude is a one-of-a-kind cabaret created and performed by Joseph St. James and a group of incredibly talented friends debuting in 2023. Hosted by a variety of Twin Cities' celebrities including A.J. Mansour of KFAN, the show blends music, storytelling, humor, and heart to honor the life of Joseph’s husband, Paul James Pfeifer.

Paul lived with mental illness and thrived with love, support, and care—until a neighbor in crisis, failed by the system, took his life. This donation-based performance is both a tribute and a call to action: a moving, joyful, and unflinchingly honest look at love, grief, healing, and the urgent need to close the mental health gaps in our communities.

It’s more than a performance. It’s a celebration of life, a space for connection, and an act of courage.

This show is undergoing a major transition to bring our important message to a larger audience. Please check back for updates!

Care Corners

A one-time dedicated donation allowed the Paul James Pfeifer Foundation to help facilitate three care corners in local schools.  Care corners create safe spaces for kids to pause, breathe, and feel.

Care Corners are cozy, calming spaces where students can go to decompress, self-regulate, and reconnect with themselves.

Whether a child is feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, or just needs a moment to reset, Care Corners offer soft lighting, comforting textures, and age-appropriate tools to help them manage big feelings.

These spaces gently teach kids that it's okay to take a break and that mental health is something we can nurture every day.

With your support, we’re helping children build emotional resilience early and reminding them that they deserve care too.
