Joseph St. James

Joseph St. James is a founding member and Board President of the Paul James Pfeifer Foundation. He was married to Paul Pfeifer from 2005 until Paul’s death, an experience that profoundly shaped his commitment to mental health advocacy. During Paul’s illness, Joseph served as his primary caregiver, an experience that became the foundation of his advocacy work and leadership within the mental health space.

Professionally, Joseph has worked for over 30 years as an actor, singer, and playwright in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area. Bringing together his artistic background and lived experience, he now provides mental health crisis training for healthcare organizations and legal systems, using role-play and experiential learning to help professionals respond with care, skill, and compassion during mental health crises.
